Lycabettus Hill is a characteristic area of Athens. Pines cover
most of the hill. It consists of a dense network of routes and
includes a variety of activities.
In the Redevelopment Study for the Hill, a detailed mapping and
inventory of the existing situation was performed. The analysis
included the use of routes, sitting areas, buildings and the
overall character of the landscape and the elements that
compose it.
Based on all the above, various interventions such as
equipment and path maintenance, signage, wall corrections
etc., were proposed.
The study took also into account the characteristics of the wider
area, the functional and aesthetic requirements associated with
the vegetation and the urban landscape of the city and finally
the economic data. The study also aimed to ‘highlight’ the areas
of attention and monuments by restoring the existing vegetation
with species of the Greek flora.
