As part of the Olympic Games Athens 2004, the Kimis Avenue
was designed as a connecting axis of Olympic Complex and the
Olympic Village. A combination of human activities, residential
areas, agricultural areas, the protected area of the Kifissos river
and the Olympic Village characterize the route.
The main objectives of the landscape restoration aimed to the
route’s attraction and safety in a manner to respect the existing
surroundings, environment and functions.
The landscape design along the road aimed to give identity to
the route, while having regional cohesion but also local
characteristics.
The plant regeneration of slopes was achieved with native shrub
species. The various junctions were also designed with plant
material in order to create subspaces interrupting the linear
character of the avenue.
