The study was part of the proposal for the new Airport of Thessaloniki including the surrounding areas and an over ground parking space creating a park on the green roof. The philosophy of planting was to create a green network that surrounds the new building without altering its character. The dominant feature is the planting of individual trees in the arrivals hall and at the atrium. Patio trees and trees at the exterior create arcs which "reproduce" the curve design of the building. The trees are in symmetry with the structure and with appropriate proportion of deciduous and evergreen species to form a pleasant microclimate in both winter and summer period. The use of water in the form of waterfalls and river connects the extensive green roof with adjacent formations creating a uniform result.
